Doxycycline hyclate 500 mg
Dosage:
For oral administration:
Calves, goats and sheep: Twice daily 1 g per 100 kg body weight for 3 – 5 days.
poultry and swine: 100 g per 500 – 1000 litres of drinking water for 3 – 5 days.
Note: for pre-ruminant calves, lambs and kids only.
Description:
Doxycycline hyclate – bacteriostatic antibiotic that belongs to the group of tetracyclines. It affects bacteria ribosomes, preventing protein synthesis. The preparation
has a wide range of antimicrobial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative
bacteria (Staphylococcus spp., Diplococcus pneumonia, Streptococcus spp., Haemophilus influenza, E. coli, Bacillus antracis, Clostridium tetani, Clostridium perfringes,
Listeria monocytogens, Pasteurella spp., Bordetella bronchiseptica, Enterobacter
spp., Klebsiella spp., Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Yersinia spp.) and mycoplasmas
(Mycoplasma spp.), rickettsia (Rickettsia spp.) and chlamydia (Chlamydia).
Indications:
Calves under 6 weeks, pigs: treatment of animals suffering from septicemia and
respiratory diseases (pneumonia, pleuropneumonia, atrophic rhinit, etc.), gastrointestinal tract (colibacilos, salmonellos), caused by microorganisms sensitive to doxycycline.
Poultry (broilers, Heifer): treatment of poultry suffering from clibacillos, salmonella,
chlamydia, septicemia and respiratory diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive
to doxycycline.
Contra indications:
Hypersensitivity to tetracyclines.
Administration to animals of a seriously impaired hepatic function.
Concurrent administration with penicillins, cephalosporins, quinolones and cycloserine.
Administration to animals with an active microbial digestion.
Side effects:
Discoloration of teeth in young animals may occur.
Hypersensitivity reactions may occur.
Withdrawal times:
For meat:
Calves, goats and sheep : 14 days.
Swine : 8 days.
Poultry : 7 days.
