SEL EXTRA is a concentrated liquid vitamin E with very high selenium.
These two nutrients complement each other to improve animal’s immune system
and minimize stress in livestock production. These nutrients are antioxidants because they both protect the membranes from oxidative damage against free-radicals. The combination of these two can prevent occurrence of exudative diathesis
and nutritional muscular dystrophy in poultry, especially in chicks. Both nutrients
intensely boost immune system of the animals.
Vitamin E has been proven to strengthen immune response of chicks which came
from vitamin E supplemented breeders. It prevents occurrence of IBD (Infectious
Bursal Disease) in broilers. Chronic heat stress in layers which may lead to low feed
intake, poor egg production and low quality egg shell, can also be controlled by
supplementation of this vitamin.
Selenium is known to protect the body from heavy metals. It has special role in
fatty acid metabolism and also required for normal immune response. This mineral
has sparing effect on Vitamin E by aiding in the retention of vitamin E in the blood
and maintaining Vitamin E absorption in the pancreas.
